I was in a good mood before I sat down to write this. It’s only noon on Sunday and I’ve already accomplished the following:

  • Laundry
  • Cleaning the apartment (including dusting!)
  • Planted an herb garden for my kitchen window
  • Consumed 1 latte
  • Read three comic books from my giant “to read” comic book pile

Look how much I’ve gotten done! Look how accomplished! How adult! Time to sit down and write a review! I’ll finish early and have time to try and work on OTHER writing! How exciting!

I would like to give a quick memorial shout out to the umpteenth pair of earbuds that have met their doom thanks to my cat. I thought I’d outsmarted him by leaving them in my purse. He caught on and was just waiting for the day I left the purse unzipped to make his move. RIP, purple earbuds. You served me well.

Now what am I going to do when I get “Hotline Bling” stuck in my head? Is there a more insidious song than “Hotline Bling”? It was released about 10,000 internet years ago, everyone has stopped photoshopping Drake into memes, so you’d think you’d be safe. You haven’t heard it for weeks, and then, suddenly, springing up in the back of your mind like a whack-a-mole: “YOU USED TO CALL ME ON MY CELL PHONE…”

Review: Gilmore Girls – Season 5, Episode 9 “Emily Says ‘Hello’”

I grew up in Colorado. While I am not one who worships at the alter of sport, I am aware that the Denver Broncos will be playing the New England Patriots in a sportsball game this weekend. (Did I mention that I also used to live in Boston?)

 

I’ve got no skin in the game. I have no opinion on the sport of foot. I don’t care who wins. Go team, rah rah, etc. But something has really been grinding my gears, and that something is the proliferation of memes lately suggesting that Tom Brady is “girly.” Tom Brady in a tutu, Tom Brady with his head photoshopped onto a model’s body, Tom Brady in Uggs for some incomprehensible reason.

I could not give one minuscule shit about Tom Brady as a person or as a football player. However, whenever I see those memes, all I can think about is a quote from Jessica Valenti:

 The worst thing you can call a girl is a girl. The worst thing you can call a guy is a girl. Being a woman is the ultimate insult. Now tell me that’s not royally fucked up.

Yeah. It is.

Review: Gotham – Season 2, Episode 10 “The Son of Gotham”

Happy Thanksgiving, fellow Americans! Let’s celebrate by gathering around the table, stuffing ourselves with food, and reminding ourselves why we refuse to discuss politics with anyone who isn’t hidden behind a computer screen.

My review is late for a variety of reasons, none of which are interesting enough to go into here. Instead, enjoy this amazing picture of whatever the fuck this thing is that I found today at a Goodwill.
