Review: Gilmore Girls – Season 5, Episode 9 “Emily Says ‘Hello’”

I grew up in Colorado. While I am not one who worships at the alter of sport, I am aware that the Denver Broncos will be playing the New England Patriots in a sportsball game this weekend. (Did I mention that I also used to live in Boston?)

 

I’ve got no skin in the game. I have no opinion on the sport of foot. I don’t care who wins. Go team, rah rah, etc. But something has really been grinding my gears, and that something is the proliferation of memes lately suggesting that Tom Brady is “girly.” Tom Brady in a tutu, Tom Brady with his head photoshopped onto a model’s body, Tom Brady in Uggs for some incomprehensible reason.

I could not give one minuscule shit about Tom Brady as a person or as a football player. However, whenever I see those memes, all I can think about is a quote from Jessica Valenti:

 The worst thing you can call a girl is a girl. The worst thing you can call a guy is a girl. Being a woman is the ultimate insult. Now tell me that’s not royally fucked up.

Yeah. It is.

Happy new year! Before I get into my review of this episode, I wanted to say a big THANK YOU to you, the reader. Yes, YOU. Thank you so much for sticking with me through this, though Gotham, and through whatever other nonsense I’ve posted in this tiny corner of the interwebs. Thank you if you clicked here by accident one time, or just started reading yesterday, or have been with me from day one. THANK YOU.

In 2015, my blog received just over 10,000 views. Ten thousand. For someone who didn’t even clear 300 views in 2014, this is a huge deal. I never thought I’d get over 10,000 views! To be honest, I never thought I’d get more than 10. I know my view number might not be a big deal in the grand scheme of the Internet as a whole, but it’s a big fucking deal to me. I could not be more grateful. I cannot thank you all enough. You are the best.

Review: Gilmore Girls – Season 5, Episode 5 “We Got Us a Pippi Virgin”

When I started reviewing Season 5, I noticed that the Gilmore Guys were in the middle of the season. “YES! I’m going to catch up!” I thought, excited by the idea of not being a million plus episodes behind them. I looked again today when I downloaded last episode’s show. NOPE. They’re at the end of the season!

Damn it. I feel that I will never finish these reviews. I feel that I will never be able to focus on anything else because I am obligated (by imaginary forces!) to finish these reviews. My apartment is a disaster right now because I am in the middle of a “home improvement” project that has resulted in more mess than improvement. Yet I review.

Review: Gilmore Girls – Season 5, Episode 3 “Written in the Stars”

I don’t want to write this review. I want to write smut or make my own 2016 I’M ORGANIZED NOW! Calendar (which I’m sure won’t last more than a month). I want to plan menus and eat popcorn and watch Forensic Files and read depressing books about the Dust Bowl or forest fires that kill all the people.

This is the kind of thinking that made it impossible to finish all seven seasons of this show in a year.
