We begin this episode with Lane excited about band practice and Lorelai having premonitions about her own death. She had a dream about being eaten by a turtle and her face swings to the back of her head. Since Lorelai is not actually going to die we can ignore most of this cold open.

Review: Gilmore Girls – Season 2, Episode 21 “Lorelai’s Graduation Day”
The girls are still searching for a breakfast place since the great Luke/Lorelai Misplaced Anger Fight has made Luke’s a No Go Zone. They settle on…Sookie’s. They make a woman who cooks for a living cook during her off hours because they themselves are too lazy to pour cereal into a bowl. And they don’t go to Sookie’s house carrying bundles of pancake mix and eggs and fruit – Sookie pays for all of this out of her own pocket.

Review: Gilmore Girls – Season 2, Episode 19 “Teach Me Tonight”
Another day in Stars Hollow, another Movie in the Square night! What’s the feature presentation? The same movie Taylor has chosen for the last three years, the sticky-sweet classic, The Yearling. I know I’ve seen this movie, but it was about a million years ago and I don’t remember much outside there’s a deer in it. If this was Homeward Bound I could tell you everything about it (including how it rips your heart out and stomps on it for a full 90 minutes. Also, many animals died during filming of that gut punch of a movie.)

Review: Gilmore Girls – Season 2, Episode 18 “Back in the Saddle Again”
My first instinct upon seeing the title of this episode was to post Aerosmith’s “Back in the Saddle Again.” But it’s played out! It’s been done! It’s totes over! So I’ll link to the Aerosmith song that 12-year-old Jen would listen to on repeat for hours once the object of her affections (unrequited, of course) got a girlfriend:
I think most people my age had an Aerosmith phase. If you didn’t, that means you are better than me.
Review: Gilmore Girls – Season 2, Episode 17 “Dead Uncles & Vegetables ”
The Netflix screencap as this episode loads is of Luke and Lorelai at a funeral. I’ve been to two funerals in under a month, forgive me if that colors this review.
The cold open has Lorelai snarking at her mother’s numerous answering machine messages. Sometimes I thank the powers that be that television exists – how else would today’s kids know what a fucking answering machine is? Or flip phones? Or unironic 90s fashion?

It was a magical time.
Review: Gilmore Girls – Season 2, Episode 16 “There’s the Rub”
We open this episode (with a filthy name, if you are so inclined – and I am) in Luke’s crumbling diner. His apartment renovation is causing plaster to fall on people as they try to cram as many pancakes as possible into their gaping maws. Add safety regulations to the list of things that don’t exist in this universe.

Actual gif of construction being (safely!) done on Luke’s apartment.
Review: Gilmore Girls – Season 2, Episode 14 “It Should Have Been Lorelai”
The episode begins and already I’m disappointed – no weird town festival? An empty diner? Lane trapped by her mother and forced to eat Melba toast? Boo. The most interesting thing we get is a display of Luke’s hand-eye coordination when he catches the phone.
This is what would happen if I tried to catch the phone in this scene:
