I think enough time has passed since I reviewed the objectively terrible “A Vineyard Valentine” episode that we can now move forward. We’ve all had enough time to process what happened, to feel our feelings, and to begin to heal. That episode can’t hurt us any more.
It’s finally happened. After almost two seasons, this wannabe Batman show finally has a Batman! He’s not called Batman, he’s called Azrael, but he jumps from rooftop to rooftop and swirls his cape dramatically, so it’s the same thing. We did it, guys! WE. DID. IT!!
Time for Lorelai to Cool Girl all over this episode! “It’s totally ok to postpone the wedding I already paid for! It’s totally ok that you didn’t tell me about your secret child until I found out by accident! I’m a Cool Girl and I never get angry at my guy because being angry would be uncool, or, God forbid, CRAZY. And the last thing a woman should ever be is crazy!”
Hey, 2016? You need to leave us a few music legends. You can’t take them all in the same year. I cannot abide a world where both David Bowie and Prince die within months of each other.
I remember being 11 or 12 and obsessively watching MTV in hopes of seeing the video for “7.” I remember laughing at “Batdance.” “1999” was ubiquitous the closer we got to December 31, 1999. I can’t tell you how many times I danced to “When Doves Cry” at goth clubs across the Denver Metro area. But some of my favorite songs are off the Diamonds and Pearls album. Songs like “Thunder,” “Daddy Pop,” and, of course, “Gett Off.”
Some people are just special. Special, uber talented, and operating on a level most of us cannot see let alone fathom. Prince was one of these people. RIP, Prince. The world is a little less purple now.
